Atiba Jefferson will be exhibiting 80 of his photographs at HVW8 Art + Design Gallery for one night only on Thursday, July 25th, from 7 to 11pm.

Remember when you were little and you were picking teams for dodgeball or basketball or whatever? Remember the sucky kid was always the last to get picked? Do you remember what the guy’s name was that always got picked first? The one guy that was a just a natural? The one that guaranteed your team was going to kick the other team’s ass? To me, Atiba Jefferson is that guy with a camera. No matter what team you put him on he makes it better. Every magazine he’s shot for improved once he started shooting for them. Why stop at magazines? Hell, he was a staff photographer for the LA Lakers and they started to win World Championships. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Atiba has been shooting the things he loves most in this world for years; skateboarding, basketball, music, just life in general. And everywhere he’s gone he makes an instant impact much like a D. Wade or Ben Roethlisberger. When he was staff photog from Transworld Skateboarding the magazine hit new highs, when him and his pals started The Skateboard Mag it immediately dominated the market. To be honest, I had never even heard of Espn, Adidas, Nike, Panasonic, Mountain Dew or Pepsi until he shot campaigns for them. It really is like everything he touches turns to gold. I bet if he touched his wife just so a baby would appear; he’s just that good. If I were you, I’d pick Atiba first. I mean, if you like to win. If you’re into losing, you’d be better off going with another photographer. – Chris Nieratko
