About HVW8 Gallery

Founded in Montréal in 1998, HVW8 established its Los Angeles gallery in 2006. For over two decades, HVW8 has occupied a singular position at the intersection of fine art, music, graphic design, and cultural activism, presenting work that consistently anticipates rather than follows cultural shifts.

The gallery has championed artists including Mark Gonzales, Geoff McFetridge, Noah Davis, Atiba Jefferson, Hassan Rahim, Kilo Kish, Chi Modu, and Parra, often supporting artists prior to wider international recognition.

HVW8’s programming extends beyond the gallery space into civic and community engagement, presenting projects that engage with culture, identity, and the social fabric of cities worldwide.

Alongside its exhibition program, HVW8 has hosted live performances, screenings, and community events that reflect its deep roots within Los Angeles music and creative cultures.

In 2014, HVW8 expanded to Berlin, establishing a second location connecting European and American contemporary art communities. ARTV, the gallery’s video platform, documents live performances and artist conversations, creating an ongoing archive of contemporary culture.

HVW8 continues to operate as an independent institution committed to presenting urgent, community-rooted work across Los Angeles and internationally.
