Arguably the biggest name in art/streetwear today KAWS had two massive openings this past Fri/Sat in LA. First a curated show at Royal T, “I Can’t Feel My Face” and then a solo show at Honor Fraser. Here are few sh**ty photos of the first (before the iPhone), and then sans the second, better left to blogs.
LALA!
Maybe showing my age — and that I have some free time, but when I was I kid Saturday mornings was the shizz. Wake up at 7-8am, get a bowl of cereal and sit for hours …. pre-computer, vcr, dvd, internet … this was it ! After try to draw muscles and decipher what is good and bad …. and accept that in 1994 the world would be destroyed! Here are a few of the classics — hand drawn fonts and all.
I would swim like Tarzan. The later Tarzan, the ape man pictorial was also a fond memory!
Was intense as a kid! The intro used to trip me out about what would happen in “1994”.
Superfriends — teamwork!
Even though living in Canada I would always sit and watch the Schoolhouse rock between episodes.
and the classic Conjunction Junction!
Ok I watched the OG smurfs …. collected them too
… and always room for some Canadian live action — Hammy Hamster in the diving bell again …. we all had/wanted hamsters.
… and maybe after the cartoons a classic Sinbad movie would be on ….
The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad (1958) – Part 7 / 9
Stop motion yeah!
AP alleges copyright infringement of Obama image
Crazy! Probably will set a precedent for appropriation ……
… and the classic ‘They Live’ …. Rowdy Roddy Piper actually made a horrible movie in my backyard once in Montreal. They covered our halfpipe with tinfoil and had glowing skateboards — which were being ridden by degenerate aliens with prosthetic penises that were actually knives used to fight Rowdy Roddy Piper …. No Lie! It was called Sci-Fighters.
They Live was a much better movie! Dare to say some of Rowdy Roddy Pipers finest?!
A childhood friend passed away last week. John Mcrae/Hudson was a smart, talented and funny guy and we had some amazing times in our youth. He will be missed!
The real life rags to riches story is coming together for Red. His 1st youtube video, recorded by Ty G behind the HVW8 Gallery, hit a massive chord with people, with already 65 000 views on YouTube, and over 350 000 views on worldstarhiphop in 4 days! Not bad for a guy hanging in the parking lot trying to get a break. Well things are looking up for Red.
Here is a new track and message from the G-Funk hobo, filmed at the HVW8 Gallery. More to come!
Hey Big Up to Shepard Fairey on making the cover of Time magazine.
