On Sunday Dec. 21st, 2008, HVW8 held it’s annual Holiday Party at the Art + Design Gallery in Los Angeles. Everyone in attendance anxiously held their breath as three friends set up a a room full of drums, keyboards, synths, modules, computers and more. The stage was set for something big. When it was time Dam Funk, Computer Jay and J1 took their places.
What came next is what you’ll hear on this podcast – pure, live future funk inspiration. Dam, Jay and J got DOWN, just vibin’ off of each other and the friends in the party. As you’ll hear Dam Funk say in the session, “jazz funk, with more funk than jazz”!
Here’s a run down of what the boys were using to perform:
Computer Jay –
Fender Rhodes- mark X (Customized.. One of a kind)
And the Moogodore (Custom piece- It’s a circuit bent Commodore 64 designed to have controls like an analog synth.. Then it runs it thru several MoogerFooger pedals. Hence the name Moogodore.)
Dam Funk –
Mirco Korg synthesizer
Roland Juno synthesizer
Sequential Circuits Drum machine
and his voice…
His basic drum kit, but oh so nice.
We know it will blow you away as much as it did us.
Enjoy the set.
